Dahr Jamail on The End of Ice

Dahr Jamail
's The End of Ice is a look at the dangerously changed and changing world we face as the result of the accelerating impacts of climate change -- and the devastating effect on billions of people and thousands of other species.

Journalist and author Dahr Jamial has visited “hot spots” around the world in a global quest to discover how we will cope with catastrophic climate change
After nearly a decade overseas as an unembedded war reporter, Dahr Jamail returned to the US to renew his passion for mountaineering, only to find that the slopes he had once climbed have been irrevocably changed by climate disruption. In response, he embarked on a journey to the geographical front lines of this crisis—from Alaska to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, via the Amazon rainforest—in order to discover the consequences to nature and to humans of the loss of ice. Dahr Jamail is the author of Climate Disruption Dispatches at TruthOut.org

Paradise at the Odyssey Theatre We'll sit down with Vicangelo Bulluck, the director of the West Coast premiere of Paradise by Laura Maria Censabella. Medalion Rahimi  plays a gifted Yemeni-American high school senior at a poorly rated school in the South Bronx, and Jeff Marlow  plays her disillusioned biology teacher. The two form an unlikely scientific partnership in the hope of securing her a scholarship — but when conflicts arise over differences in culture, religion and the boundaries of mentorship, the clash becomes a test of character for both. The play is produced by Viola Davis and Julius Tennon, and is a visiting production at the Odyssey Theatre.
