Bob Avakian's Answer to People Who Complain About Immigrants Crossing Borders On October 13, a caravan of some 600 migrants left Honduras determined to make their way to the U.S.-Mexico border to apply for asylum. As they trekked through Guatemala and reached the Mexican border six days later, their numbers had grown to an estimated 5,000, mainly from Honduras, with entire neighborhoods joining, according to some of the migrants. From "STOP: The demonization, criminalization and deportations of immigrants and the militarization of the border" at revcom.us. This is occurring against the background of a fascist regime in power in the US, the Trump/Pence regime, which is step by step consolidating a fascist form of rule. It's also a time when many people in the US who don't want to see a fascist America are putting their hopes in the electoral system, voting for Democrats who say they will do nothing to help drive the fascists from power. Meanwhile, the Trump/Pence regime are consolidating their hold on the courts, building up their fascist storm troopers, following up their successful Muslim ban with a campaign of ethnic cleansing of immigrants and even Latino citizens.
