Today the Supreme Court will hear a case that could overturn or severely gut the constitutionally protected right to abortion. This is an all-out emergency for everyone who recognizes the basic humanity of women. People need to act now in mass, determined resistance demanding: We won't go back! We won't surrender! Abortion on demand and without apology!

The revcoms are fighting this as part of organizing now for a real revolution to overthrow this whole system of capitalism-imperialism, with the oppression of women knitted into its very fabric. We say: Break ALL the Chains! Unleash the Fury of Women as a Mighty Force for Revolution!

And you are needed now in this revolution and in this urgent fight to preserve this crucial right. TODAY: Join us in the streets in protest and to sound the alarm about this dangerous Supreme Court case. Think about it: Without the right to abortion, millions of women will have their futures foreclosed. Think about the woman with three children she can barely support now forced to carry an unplanned pregnancy to term, losing her job and being plunged into an even more desperate situation. Think about the 20-year-old college student, who has hopes and dreams beyond motherhood. Think about women in Texas, where abortion has already been effectively banned, who now must risk their very lives to carry medically dangerous pregnancies to term because the law treats the fetus as more valuable than her life.

Bob Avakian, the revolutionary leader and author of the new communism, gets to the heart of what this is about:

Unbelievable as it may seem, in the 21st century there are still people—including people in positions of power and authority—who are determined to force women to bear children, regardless of the situation, the feelings, and the better judgment of those women themselves. That is a way of enslaving women to the dictates of an oppressive male supremacist, patriarchal system; and that is what the cruel fanatics who are determined to deny women the right to abortion are really all about.

If you don’t want to see this future, then be part of acting to change this NOW! There is no standing aside.

The case going before the Supreme Court on Wednesday is Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, where the state of Mississippi has asked the Court to overrule its 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade protecting a woman’s right to abortion. The Mississippi law restricts abortion after 15 weeks with no exception for rape or incest and if Roe v. Wade is overturned, at least 24 states already have laws in effect that would make abortion illegal in all or most circumstances.

The moves to outlaw abortion are one critical part of a larger threat throughout society—the threat of fascism. This means rule through open terror and violence, with genocidal white supremacy, xenophobia (the hatred of people not born in the U.S. and especially not white), and militant, toxic masculinity with the hatred for women and LGBTQ people expressed through the “pussy-grabber” Donald Trump or the Christian fascist enforcement of a woman’s duty as mother and wife, subordinate to the man. A determined and lunatic fascist movement is on the march—in the halls of power, the courts, and throughout society to violently enforce this future and lock down its brutal control over all of society.

If we do nothing, this is where the future is headed.

The Democratic Party mouthpieces of this system, and far too many in the organized women’s movements, are basically telling you to do nothing but focus your energy on the gradual electoral process. This will surrender the right to abortion now without a serious, determined mass struggle, sacrificing the lives and futures of millions of women. Even worse, it will strengthen the fascists who are not slowing down but fighting for the end to all abortions and even the right to birth control. And it will divert people into acting on the terms of this whole oppressive system of capitalism-imperialism, which has given rise to these fascists.

What you, what everyone who refuses to see women subordinated and degraded, need to be doing is filling the streets in sustained mass protest refusing to see women slammed back! And raising your sights to the revolutionary struggle needed now to bring a new world into being.

There is leadership for this revolution in Bob Avakian (BA). BA is providing leadership now to everyone who wants to see humanity get free... and if that's you, then you need to get into BA, and become a follower of BA. On the basis of a whole scientific framework for human emancipation and strategy for revolution, BA has analyzed that now is a rare time when revolution becomes possible—exactly because society is being ripped apart and the rulers are fighting bitterly amongst themselves—and BA is providing a framework for how to seize on this rare opportunity.
