Democratic National Convention

American Flag Burns at DNC! Carl Dix, Joey Johnson, Revolution Club Declare: "AMERICAN LIVES ARE NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES" Photo: Nicholas Isabella

In Philadelphia, Hillary Clinton, flanked by her "diverse" crew of big-time exploiters and dominators, wannabes, and double-dealing, double-talking Democratic hustlers, is trying to lure and lull those who can't stomach Trump to line up behind the "inclusive" banner of a serial war criminal and proven aider and abettor of the mass imprisonment of Black youth! Many have been disgusted and alarmed by the "choice" offered in this election. Thousands have been in the streets.

Carl Dix will talk about who Hillary Clinton is, what it means to have an election where you can choose between a fascist and a war criminal, as well as the two futures that are confronting people. Carl Dix is a representative of the Revolutionary Communist Party, and co-founder, along with Cornel West, of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network.

Recorded in Hollywood

Recorded in Hollywood is the story of John Dolphin's record store, Dolphin's of Hollywood. This was not just a record store with with a DJ or an iconic music gathering place for rebellious teens of all races during a time of segregation. For many people who traveled to the original Central Avenue shop -- sometimes even secretly -- it was home. At the same time, it was hated by the establishment and attacked by the police.

We'll sit down with Producer Lou Spisto, and Author and Producer Jamelle Dolphin. Currently at the Kirk Douglas Theatre

Revolution Books wants to share this from revcom.us:

Gregory "Joey" Johnson,
the notorious flag-burner who won the Supreme Court case Texas v. Johnson after he burned the American flag outside the Dallas RNC in 1984, succeeded in burning the American flag outside the RNC in Cleveland yesterday. As decided in the Supreme Court case Johnson vs. Texas, this is constitutionally protected speech.

"Donald Trump's message of America first is a fascist message of control over the people of the world, waging unending war to exploit people all over the planet. America is number 1? America always has been first - at genocide, at slavery, at exploitation, and destruction of the environment, at torture, at coup d'etats. Bob Avakian, leader of the revolution, says 'American lives are NOT more important than other people's lives,'" announced Joey Johnson before burning the American flag.

"Police claim that Johnson lit himself on fire and they were protecting him," said Sunsara Taylor, a supporter of the Revolutionary Communist Party. "This is a lie made up to justify their illegitimate attack on protected political speech they wanted to suppress. Inside the arena, a fascist mob is whipped up on American supremacy and domination. If you can't burn the American flag to speak against that there is nomeaning to 'free speech.'"

Johnson was violently tackled to the ground by several police, his shirt which read, "BA Speaks: Revolution, Nothing Less!" was shredded, and he was arrested along with 16 other revolutionary communists and others. As they were taken away, they continued chanting, "1, 2, 3, 4 - Slavery, Genocide, and War! 5, 6, 7, 8 - America Was NEVER Great!" Other communists and unaffiliated protesters joined them in this chant. They also chanted, "What's the problem? The whole damn system! What's the solution? Revolution! Who's our leader? Bob Avakian!"

Dear Friends,

A last minute change in schedule at KPFK, because of coverage of the Republican National Convention (RNC). The show will run from 11 AM to Noon Pacific Time.

Joey Johnson, the notorious flag-burner who won the Supreme Court case Texas v. Johnson after he burned the American flag outside the Dallas RNC in 1984, succeeded in burning the American flag outside the RNC in Cleveland this week, and was attacked and arrested by police. He's out of jail, and will be on the show.

Carl Dix, Revolutionary Communist Party and Stop Mass Incarceration Network, has also been at the protests in Cleveland all week, where the Revolution Club has been taking out a message from the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party, "Time To Get Organized for an ACTUAL Revolution."

Bob Avakian and Cornel West, "Is there value to voting? Can voting stop fascism?" an excerpt from Revolution and Religion: The Fight for Emancipation and the Role of Religion, a Dialogue between Cornel West and Bob Avakian. This dialogue took place in late 2014, before a packed house in the Riverside Church in New York City. Cornel West is a prominent and provocative democratic intellectual and Professor of Philosophy and Christian Practice at Union Theological Seminary in New York. Bob Avakian is the Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party.

Carl Dix from Baton Rouge

Carl Dix speaking in Baton Rouge

Carl Dix recently wrote, "People here in Baton Rouge and around the country are continuing to stand up, not letting the focus be changed, not backing down, not buckling under to calls to go home. Let's be clear, the egregious murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, on top of all the other cases of cops exonerated and of the savage oppression of Black people by the system, point to the reality of this system: They can't stop this horror.

"One reason, but only one reason, why we need revolution."

We'll be talking about all this. Carl Dix is a representative of the Revolutionary Communist Party, and co-founder of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network.

MATT ROSS - CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

Matt Ross is the writer and director of Captain Fantastic, which opened early this month. It's a moving, funny, provocative film.

Ben Cash, played by Viggo Mortensen, rejects the dog-eat-dog culture of US capitalism, and raises his six children "off the grid" in the woods in Washington state. They hunt and farm all their own food. They celebrate Noam Chomsky's birthday instead of Christmas.

One reviewer said, "Ben is the sort of ideological-minded communist who hates the greater capitalist culture of America and teaches his children five languages as well as a doctrine to stick it to the man."
