They need to be overthrown as quickly as possible.”  Bob Avakian This past week has been another when it can be said without reservation, no truer words have ever been spoken. Bob Avakian spoke these words in response to the war in Ukraine, which has galloped into a proxy conflict between two imperialist powers—the USA, world’s most powerful oppressive power, and imperialist Russia. This week saw the deadly dance between these two nuclear armed powers ratchet up with the future of humanity hanging in the balance. These words of Bob Avakian echo in our hearts and minds as we took on the video of the wanton, brutal murder of Tyre Nichols by the police. Unbearable pain does not begin to express what we felt. Deep rage and anger at the relentless, vengeful, absolutely heartless thug murder of a young man full of life who posed no threat and was pleading for his life. A young man who skated, had a son and was a son. We turn our anger to prepare now for an actual revolution. Nothing less. Nothing else. Watch and listen to the Revolution Club national spokesperson, Noche Diaz, break down why these pigs do what they do, and what it is that we need to do to overthrow a system that requires brutal enforcers to maintain its “way of life” (read Noche's statement here). How these Memphis pigs did Tyre is a concentration of the genocide this country has done to Black people from Day 1. Everyone should be confronted with this and think hard about this reality. Dig into and spread Bob Avakian’s article “AMERICA: Truly a Model—of DEPRAVED RACIST GENOCIDE. How can any decent person deny that we need a revolution to overthrow this system?” People may say, but you can’t make revolution here, that’s common sense. Also this week, Florida disqualified an Advanced Placement African American Studies class from being taught in that state’s high schools. We cover the news of this outrage, analyze some key points around this controversy, and provide you with the TikTok response from the revcoms that features Bob Avakian’s response to some of DeSantis’ fascist lies on this question. Last week marked the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision which recognized women’s constitutional right to abortion—a right that was ripped away by the fascist Trump-appointed Court this past June. Read (or watch) the revolutionary analysis and orientation from Sunsara Taylor, “Forced Motherhood Is Female Enslavement: Make Roe’s Reversal a Rallying Cry for Real Revolution!”; read the statement from RiseUp4AbortionRights; and get into “Sights and Sounds” of this past weekend (some of which will be posted during the week to come). The people of Iran continue in their battle for emancipation with the brutal Islamic theocratic regime there. Within that struggle, some forces are pushing the bankrupt and dangerous notion that “things were better” under the rule of the Shah—a highly repressive U.S. puppet, who was overthrown by the Iranian revolution in 1978-79 and eventually (through a complicated series of struggles) replaced by the current reactionary theocratic regime. This week we’re featuring a graphic piece from the Communist Party of Iran, Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, that exposes this dangerous lie and points to the fundamentally oppressive nature of both forms of rule. At the beginning of 2023, the revcoms initiated an ambitious fund campaign to raise $100,000. We’ve raised over $60,000 of that, but there’s a critical last leg to go and only four weeks in which to do it. This week we’re posting FAQs for those people taking up this campaign, we’re posting ideas on seeking out and going to people from the middle class, and we’re sharing an experience from the Chicago Revolution Club.
