Charlottesville, Virginia and the Aftermath:
Confronting Racist, Murdering Nazi Thugs

Carl Dix, Representative of the Revolutionary Communist Party, and co-initiator of Refuse Fascism, joins us to talk about the Clash in Charlottesville and the aftermath. For a night and a day, Nazis, KKK and other White Supremacist and Fascist scum were in the streets in Charlottesville, Virginia, chanting Nazi slogans as well as racist and anti-LGBTQ chants, and attacking courageous anti-fascist protesters. One of them rammed his car into a crowd, murdering Heather Heyer, a life-long fighter for justice.

These extreme reactionary forces have been encouraged and emboldened by the Trump/Pence Regime, and they've been increasingly active across the country. But what we saw in Charlottesville was a major leap. And it was welcomed, supported and encouraged by Trump himself.

This demanded a response, and thousands have taken to the streets in city after city, condemning the White Supremacists and remembering the example of Heather Heyer. We'll talk about all this and where to now, with Carl Dix.

National Climate Assessment, a Conversation with One of the Authors, Katharine Hayhoe

Katharine Hayhoe, one of the lead authors of the National Climate Assessment, has summed up its 600 pages in one sentence: It's real . . .It's us . . . It's serious . . . And the window of time to prevent dangerous impacts is closing fast. Some scientists have worried that the Trump regime might try to suppress or force changes in the report. Indeed, Scott Pruitt, a science denier who is the head of the EPA, has already attacked its conclusions. Katharine Hayhoe will talk about what the report says, what's happening with the planet, and why it's so important.

The Continuing Persecution of the Inauguration Day (J20) Protesters

We'll hear from Stephanie Lacambra, Criminal Defense Staff Attorney at the Electronic Frontiers, joins us to talk about what they have called the unconstitutional methods being used by the prosecution against those who protested on January 20, Inauguration Day, and are facing long years in prison. The latest government move is a search warrant demanding detailed information on everyone who visited a protest website.

THIS NIGHTMARE MUST END
ON NOVEMBER 4, 2017
Take To The Streets And Public Squares in cities and towns across the country, continuing day after day and night after night-not stopping-until our DEMAND is met:

NO!
This Nightmare Must End:
The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!
In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America!

Andy Zee, co-initiator of Refuse Fascism, joins us to talk about where do we got from here, and what's got to happen. He recently wrote, "'This Nightmare Must End' captures how millions of people feel right now. This feeling is at times inchoate and, at others, it enrages. It disturbs sleep, dominates conversation. For immigrants and Muslims it is terror that is lived-a foreboding pervading every aspect of life. Where you never know if this is the day you will be snatched from family and the life you have made-perhaps to be returned to a place you don't know where you may face persecution or even death.

"What people don't know, and need to know, is that THEY ARE THE WAY OUT OF THE NIGHTMARE . . . ."

This week:

Sunsara Taylor, Defending the Claremont McKenna College Students and Getting Ready for the Future
Sunsara Taylor, writer for revcom.us / Revolution newspaper, and co-initiator of RefuseFascism.org, joins us to talk about the harsh punishment given to students at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, for setting an example for people everywhere by shutting down a speech by the white supremacist and fascist Heather Mac Donald. Three students have been suspended for a year and two others suspended for a semester for the non-violent protest that stopped Mac Donald from spreading fascism and white supremacy, attacking the Black Lives Matter movement and portraying killer cops as victims. Defending these students, and others who may be targeted, is a crucial part of opposing fascism.

Trouble in Mind, by Alice Childress, at the Theatricum Botanicum

We'll speak with actors Earnestine Phillips and Max Lawrence, from Trouble in Mind, now at the Theatricum Botanicum. The play, by Alice Childress, was first perfomed in 1955. It portrays a group of mostly African American actors who begin rehearsals of a new play written by a white playwright, under the direction of a white director. During the course of the rehearsal, it becomes clear to one member of the Black cast that following the direction they are given would mean giving up part of their humanity.

Jeffery Robinson, ACLU, on Trump's "police state" speech in Long Island

We will also be joined by Jeffery RobinsonACLU Deputy Legal Director and Director of the Trone Center for Justice and Equality, on his recent article "Donald Trump's Talk to Police Officers Was Police-State Authoritarianism Distilled to Its Essence".
