One week into the Trump/Pence regime - A New Juncture: RefuseFascism-LA Meeting Wed., 2/1

We received the following from RefuseFascism-LA:

Southern California resisters!

This has been an intense week, both seeing the fascist Trump/Pence regime moving very rapidly to consolidate their rule, as well as huge numbers of people around the country powerfully resisting the executive orders.

Join us at the next important organizing meeting on Wednesday, February 1st at 6:30 PM at Echo Park United Methodist Church, 1226 N. Alvarado Blvd., just off of Sunset, in Echo Park, Los Angeles.

As is written in A Letter from Carl Dix, Sunsara Taylor, and Andy Zee, Coming To Grips With The New Situation, from RefuseFascism.org:

"So we stand at a new juncture. The regime is in power, and moving quickly. At the same time, millions have registered their opposition and many are looking for a way to fight. Over these next few weeks, revcom.us will be covering the regime and the resistance to it with the same intensity and level of analysis that we have since the election.

Right now it is very important that those who came together around refusefascism.org stay together, reflect on and sum up the rich experience of the past six weeks, and develop new strategy. As one key element of this, it will be important to join with and at times initiate actions against the outrages continually perpetrated by Trump, reaching out to others and sharing perspectives with them.
For the two bedrock points from which we joined with others to start this initiative remain true. One, that this regime is indeed fascist and as such poses a mortal threat and must be defeated. And two, that there are people - millions and tens of millions - who can potentially be mobilized to fight against it and who must be led to step outside the confines of politics-as-usual (including protest-as-usual) to actually OUST this horrendous monstrosity."
Right now, one of the crucial ways to participate is to donate to the local fundraiser so that we can continue to produce much-needed and very welcomed No! posters, stickers, and flyers which are projecting and cohering a powerful force around this message.

There Is An Urgent Need--And There IS Still Time In These Next Few Days--To Prevent This Fascist Regime From Ruling
From RefuseFascism.org: On January 20, despite the protests of thousands and the anguish and anger stretching all around the world, the powers-that-be intend to inaugurate the Trump-Pence regime of fascism.

The Trump-Pence regime would be more than the sum of the many abuses and outrages it plans to perpetrate. If not prevented from ruling, it will be, as a regime, FASCIST--a blatant dictatorship relying on open terror and violence, committing atrocities against groups of people identified as "enemies," "undesirables," or "dangers to society." A Trump-Pence regime would not only be illegitimate; if allowed to go forward it could be catastrophic for humanity.

Protest is important, but more than protest is needed. We must actually go all out, now, to prevent this regime from ruling. We are, this weekend, hundreds of thousands protesting. Through staying in the streets and disrupting business as usual, over the next few days and into next week, we could together grow to millions and bring into being a major political crisis, to which all the factions in the power structure would have to react.
Stay in the streets, in DC and everywhere else.

In the name of humanity,
we refuse to accept a fascist America.

**We'll talk to a representative from Refuse Fascism about the moment we're in, and their plans for the next few days.

**We'll also hear an interview with Michael Mann, a leading climate scientist, about climate change, Trump, and the attacks on scientists. Michael Mann is Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science at Penn State University. He is author of more than 200 peer-reviewed and edited publications, and has published several books including Dire Predictions: Understanding Climate Change, The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines, and his latest, The Madhouse Effect: How Climate Change Denial Is Threatening Our Planet, Destroying Our Politics, and Driving Us Crazy, co-authored with Washington Post editorial cartoonist Tom Toles.

Flash! RefuseFascism.org Co-Initiator Carl Dix Disrupts Sessions Confirmation Hearing

We received the following from RefuseFascism.org--

Hello Resisters!

Flash! RefuseFascism.org Co-Initiator Carl Dix Disrupts Sessions Confirmation Hearing

Tuesday morning, RefuseFascism.org Co-Initiator Carl Dix and several other protesters disrupted Senator Sessions confirmation hearing and were removed in handcuffs. Dix was dragged out chanting, "No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA." Another RefuseFascism.org protester was dragged out saying: "We refuse to accept a fascist America. We have to be in the streets starting January 14 to stop the Trump/Pence fascist regime from coming to power."

As the attempted normalization and implantation of what would be an illegitimate, fascist and truly catastrophic regime continues with the hearings on the Ku Kluxer Sessions, we must urgently come together to stop this regime before it starts. There are Plans to do that, beginning this weekend. There are ways to organize this beginning now.

There are meetings Wednesday 1/11 and Thursday 1/12 near you to gather our strength and organize the massive numbers needed to make this reality.  Find out what is scheduled or schedule one yourself.

Three main things to do today:

Get out to any anti-Sessions actions and bring the materials from the organizing kitwith you when you do.

Call for, build for, plan to come to meetings on Wednesday or Thursday night.
Make your plans to get to DC Saturday and stay as long as you can.

Meeting in DC: Thursday January 12 - 7pm
Thursday, January 12 - 7pm
1525 Newton St NW
Washington, DC 20010

Friday, January 13 - The Michael Slate Show - Refuse Fascism calls on people to Flood DC, Stay in the Streets, Stop the Fascist Trump/Pence Regime BEFORE It Starts

Received via email.  We Recommend:

Tune in Friday, January 13, 10-11AM Pacfic Time
KPFK 90.7 FM, kpfk.org

This week's show will be devoted to NO! In The Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America.

"The fascist regime that Trump and Pence are now forging represent an unprecedented danger to humanity. They must be stopped before they take control of the levers of power to commit immense horrors here and around the world. This would continue and leap beyond the countless crimes the U.S. rulers have committed for more than two centuries. To do this will take massive resistance of unprecedented scope, breadth, and determination involving millions of people in all corners of society." -- RefuseFascism.org

In the past week, there have been disruptions at Senate hearings on Trump's cabinet nominees, especially that of Jeffrey Sessions, a full-page ad in the Washington Post, and many voices speaking out. Refuse Fascism has called for people to flood Washington DC, with protests beginning Saturday, January 14, with plans to stay in the streets, demonstrating and spreading the word night and day, drawing more and more people, until many millions are in the streets demanding that this fascist regime be stopped before it starts.

For those who can't make it to DC, there are also actions planned at many other cities around the US, including Los Angeles. Refuse Fascism lists events on their website, and encourages people to create their own events if there's no event nearby.

We'll talk with several of the initiators and endorsers of Refuse Fascism:

Carl Dix, Revolutionary Communist Party

Lalah Hathaway, Grammy Award-winning singer
Arturo O'Farrill, Afro-Latin jazz musician, pianist and composer

Next Steps in the Fight to Stop the Trump/Pence Regime Before It Starts

Momentum is growing in the fight to Stop the Trump/Pence Regime Before It Starts! Your donations and fundraising are urgently needed!
Contribute to the national fund drive to reach the $100,000 goal for major ads in newspapers and on-line publications.
And/or donate to the local fund drive for the #NoFascistUSA car caravan from LA to DC, and for all of the posters, flyers, stickers, and banners to spread this movement throughout SoCal.  Ask friends, colleagues, and family to match your donations!

Update:
This weekend the #NoFascistUSA car caravan to DC got a send-off from LA! Next stop Arizona, as they head to Washington, DC to be part of bringing DC to a halt.

In addition, teams went to the Palm Springs Film Festival, the Golden Globes, Orange County storekeepers, and churches.  An artist is creating powerful No! banners using stencils, so contact us if you want to work with him.  One highlight was meeting a father and son who just heard about RefuseFascism on the radio, and stopped by the office last night at 11 PM after driving from San Diego County to deliver No! car magnets for the car caravan, plus two beautiful English and Spanish banners, stickers, t-shirts and hats that they donated. They took a big stack of posters and flyers to distribute back in their area.

Send your photos and short reports on what you are doing to Stop the Trump/Pence Regime Before It Starts! to the national office at RefuseFascism@gmail.com, and to the local office at RefuseFascismLA@gmail.com.  We look forward to hearing from you!
