Sunsara Taylor:

November 4th National Protest Movement to Demand: This Nightmare Must End: The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!
These Protests Are Under Attack by the Alt-Right, Lies, Threats of Violence, Denial of Permits

November 4 is quickly approaching. All over the US, people are called on to step out, and stop a fascist regime. Sunsara Taylor, co-initiator and spokesperson for Refuse Fascism, joins us to talk about the need for people to stop and recognize the danger to human civilization itself posed by the fascist Trump/Pence regime, and to begin the actions that will be necessary to prevent unspeakable horrors.

We'll also talk about the "Alt-Right," conservative, white supremacist, and outright fascist organizations that have threatened violence and issued death threats against the protests, endangering the safety of thousands of people. At the same time, authorities in NYC and San Francisco are denying or obstructing permits for the RefuseFascism.org non-violent rallies and marches.

THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! In The Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America: A Better World IS Possible - A Talk by Bob Avakian

The film of Bob Avakian’s new speech addresses the most urgent question of the day: how to understand, and what to do about, the threat to humanity itself posed by the Trump/Pence regime. This talk—from the most radical revolutionary on the planet—makes the case for massive, sustained nonviolent outpourings to begin on November 4. It traces the roots of the regime—the deeper and more immediate causes of its rise to power. This hour-long speech is full of substance, and heart.

Ed Rampell on the 70TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION OF THE HOLLYWOOD BLACKLIST - Un-American: A Reenactment of the HUAC Hearings

Friday evening, October 27, 2017, is the 70th anniversary of the start of the Hollywood Ten’s testimony before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), which marked the beginning of the Hollywood Blacklist and McCarthyism. This was one of the most unjust, repressive eras in American history, enforcing censorship and trampling on constitutional rights.

This Friday evening, at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, Blacklist survivors, relatives of persecuted artists and contemporary progressive talents including, on a schedule permitting basis, Susan Sarandon, Jamie Cromwell, Mike Farrell, and via video Ed Asner and Lee Grant, will reenact the HUAC heaings.

The Writer's Guild Foundation, which is sponsoring the event, stated, "The goal of our HUAC hearings reenactment is to remind Americans about another despotic era in U.S. history when free speech rights were trampled on by HUAC and McCarthyism – so it never happens again."

We'll speak with one of the organizers, Ed Rampell, about this extraordinary event. Ed Rampell is a film historian, author and critic, and writer for Hollywood Progressive.

For more information on the program, go to the Writers Guild Foundation website
