This week: TEAR DOWN THIS WALL! A Dresden Orchestra Stages a Huge Happening at the US-Mexico Border We'll speak with Sven Heinrich from The Dresdner Sinfoniker, a contemporary symphony orchestra from Dresden, Germany, who will stage a concert at Parque del Mar in Tijuana, Baja California, between 11 AM - 4 PM on Saturday, June 3. The location is right at the US border. The orchestra said, "With this happening we are not only protesting against President Trump's proposed border wall, but also against the isolation and nationalist policies around the world. Together, we will demonstrate that music knows no boundaries and art can help to build bridges across all barriers." Grand Performances Summer Season in Los Angeles At a time when the Trump administration is looking to disembowel the arts and deport immigrants, Grand Performancesis flying in the face of the attacks on immigrants and Muslims with eclectic programming choices representing immigrants from Columbia, Iraq, Iran, Mexico, the LGBT community and more. The series of free concerts takes place at the California Plaza in Downtown LA, from June 2 - September 23. We'll be talking with Nurit Smith, Deputy Director of Grand Performances. She recently said, "In a world filled with uncertainty it's now more important than ever to have a safe haven, a place of refuge to make one feel uplifted." We'll hear Bob Avakian (BA), talking about "What if . . . ?" The times we're going through right now underline the importance of people getting into BA.
