This week:

Richard Falk on Gaza, Israel and the US

The past weeks have seen a new upsurge of resistance of the Palestinian people against the Israeli settler regime and its US backer. Thousands and thousands of people in Gaza have stood up, proclaiming their dignity and demanding their rights as human beings, refusing to live in the open-air prison they've been forced into, and continuing in the face of Israeli mass murder. They have protested the theft of their land by the Zionists in the Great March of Return. They have set sail in boats to break the decade-long siege of Gaza. A fierce new generation has come on the scene, lighting up the world by their heroic example.

We'll speak with international law expert Richard Falk, former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. Richard Falk is an international law and international relations scholar who taught at Princeton University for forty years, and UC Santa Barbara. Over the years, he has been fighting tirelessly for the rights and lives of the Palestinian people, and standing up to non-stop attacks from the Zionists, their allies and their backers in the US.

We also recommend this special issue ofRevolution:

The Case of ISRAEL

The state of Israel is projected to the world as an outpost of democracy and tolerance in a sea of hostile, intolerant Islam bent on its destruction. To be considered a credible mainstream voice in U.S. politics, academia, or the media, one must present Israel as a front line of defense against Jihad, and a critical fortress defending "our way of life."

"America Was Never Great--We Need Revolution" picnics on Monday, May 28 (Memorial Day)

Received from the Revolution Club-LA:

Be part of a Memorial Day picnic that is part of making a way forward for humanity.
In Los Angeles: Monday, May 28 @ 12 Noon
Exposition Park, 700 Exposition Park Dr.
The U.S. government, like the bloodthirsty gangster it is on a world scale, just threatened to do “Libya” in North Korea, meaning devastate it with bombing and murder its leader, if North Korea doesn’t do what the U.S. wants it to do. Then Trump threatened North Korea with nuclear weapons, which if used would kill a million people in one day. This is on top of Trump reshuffling his staff to put in the most monstrous torturers and warmongers and then pulling out of the Iran deal, punishing the masses of people in Iran with sanctions, and threatening war. And in this situation, the NFL announced it will force its property, “the players,” to show respect for that blood-soaked U.S. flag that represents these wars for empire and all the slavery and genocide that go all the way back to the beginning of this country.
We will come together to eat some good food and build community around getting organized for actual revolution that puts humanity first. The BBQ will be a fundraiser and the kickoff to a summer of seriously building the revolution to overthrow this system of capitalism-imperialism. “Thousands need to get organized into the ranks of the revolution now, while millions are being influenced in favor of this revolution,” as it says in the strategy document, HOW WE CAN WIN, How We Can Really Make Revolution.
We will NOT be honoring the American military and those who have served in it.
We WILL be telling the truth about American Crimes that have been committed against people here and all over the world. From slavery and genocide, to CIA coup d’états and U.S.-backed death squads in Africa and Latin America and Asia that killed millions, to invasions and wars where the USA slaughtered millions, and on and on and on.
We will NOT be “thanking the troops for the service.” Our message to U.S. troops that kill and torture and rape for U.S. empire? FUCK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! The troops we honor are the ones who reclaim their humanity by refusing to fight for this country and instead stand with the people of the world.
We WILL inspire people to see their common cause with the billions of people throughout the world in making revolution to overthrow this system. And we will be spreading the word about the revolutionary leader Bob Avakian, who has dedicated his life to working on the problems of the revolution and has developed a New Communism, the understanding humanity needs to make the revolution we need.
Bring your self, your friends and family, and bring some food for the grill or a donation for the Revolution Club. Spread the word to others to come be part of it, and be part of building the revolution.

We'll talk with Steve Apostolina, playwright and actor, and actors Emily Goss and Bob Nagle from Forever Bound, a play which recently premiered at the Atwater Village Theatre, and is directed by Ann Hearn Tobolowsky.

The play begins with Edmund (French Stewart), a rare book dealer whose business has dried up, struggling to pay the rent and selling the last of his beloved books and comics to make ends meet. His friend, freelance book scout Shep (Steve Apostolina), concocts a risky scheme with unforeseen consequences. Circumstances will ultimately challenge their moral compasses.

DONATE GENEROUSLY TO A FUNDRAISER TO CHANGE EVERYTHING

Received from the Revolution Club - Los Angeles:
Revolution Club, LA – A Fundraiser to Change Everything

The Revolution Club is on a mission to make a big advance in organizing forces for an actual revolution, impacting all of society, changing what people are living and fighting for, taking up the leadership of Bob Avakian, and getting organized for a real revolution. The Revolution Club is relying on and needs people like you to donate and sustain this effort. Your donations help make all this happen: from materials like flyers and banners, to sustaining the Revolution Club Organizing Center and meeting the basic necessities of the volunteers.  Right now we are in a major campaign to get HOW WE CAN WIN—How We Can Really Make Revolution known to millions, and to recruit hundreds and then thousands into this revolution.

What is the situation in the world today? Tens of millions of refugees flee from country to country—driven by war, violence and disastrous global climate change—and endure horrors worse than any hell imagined in any “holy book.” One half of humanity—women—demeaned, harassed, beaten, raped and murdered by the other half. All over the world, fascists march toward power. In the U.S. itself, Trump and his minions openly uphold the slaveholding Confederacy, vilify immigrants and Muslims, and work to bring back open white supremacy. They rain violence around the world, and threaten nuclear genocide. And all the while, the planet burns... and drowns, the world cries out for a revolution.

"There IS a way out, a way forward. Beneath the extreme contradictions we face lies the very possibility of a whole new world, if we dare to take up struggle. The possibility actually exists—it is real—to go forward to a radically new society on the road to human emancipation. There is a way to understand the world, and on that basis to radically change it. There is a way to fight and work toward a world free of the madness that envelops humanity today. There is a strategy that could actually bring forward the tens of millions who deep down yearn for something better; a strategy that, when the time is right, could actually defeat those who rule today, with all their might and power.

"That way forward is the new synthesis of communism, brought forward by Bob Avakian (BA). This new synthesis analyzes the world as it is, digging for the truth, without any hint of religion or relativism. It digs deep, going for the underlying patterns and dynamics, and it applies all this, as BA himself has said, 'to reality in general and in particular the revolutionary struggle to overturn and uproot all systems and relations of exploitation and oppression and advance to a communist world.' And it does this in a way that’s not been done before. If there is to be a better world, if there is to be a way out of the madness and horror that looms, it will proceed through this—and nothing less." - New Year's Message from REVOLUTION: A World in Upheaval, A Planet in Flames --There IS A Way Forward... A Better World Truly IS Possible.

The Revolution Club lives by the 6 Points of Attention.  The Revolution Club is where youth and others from all backgrounds get organized to fight the power today to STOP the horrors of the system, and to transform the people, FOR REVOLUTION. The Revolution Club is where everyone can learn about Bob Avakian, the leadership, the strategy for making and winning a revolution. How to apply the science of communism.

The Revolution Club is out among the people every day: on the college campuses and out at the high schools, in the neighborhoods where people are catching the most hell, and at poetry readings and cultural events: organizing people into the revolution.  We're struggling with people’s ideas, straight-up... and leading them to struggle against the enemy. We are fighting to get to a situation where millions can be led to go for revolution, all-out, with a real chance to win. We are on the front lines fighting to break through the obstacles to getting the New Communism, as well as its architect, BA (the person who has elaborated and developed this new synthesis of communism, and who himself stands as a concentrated expression of its core principles and scientific methods), widely known, engaged and appreciated throughout this society (and among all strata), and beyond that throughout the world. And we are out on the front lines uniting with many others in the struggle to prevent the consolidation of fascism through a mass mobilization of people in the streets, in their millions.

We are bold, we are challenging, and we are fighting for different morals and values all in the service of a revolution to emancipate of all of humanity.

$15,000 is needed to cover:
* Living costs for volunteers.
* Costs of running an organizing center.
* Costs of materials, subsidizing books and t-shirts.
* Legal expenses and court costs.
* A summer project to take BA and the revolution he represents to “the people who catch the hardest hell every day”.
* Travel expenses for volunteers to take BA to conferences of all kinds, festivals, summer sessions of universities, and resort areas.

UCLA screening and panel discussion of "The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go" - May 24

Received from Refuse Fascism - SoCal:

Friends,

Just this week, 60 Palestinians were killed in Gaza and 2,700 injured as protests broke out over the US relocating its Embassy to Jerusalem – making it the deadliest day there since 2014. A Republican Georgia state senator running for governor announced the start of his “Deportation Bus Tour” on Tuesday, which he said will consist of rounding up illegal immigrants in a bus labeled “Murderers, rapists, kidnappers, child molesters, and other criminals on board." Donald Trump had a round table with other California "leaders" where he blatantly called immigrants "animals" saying "These aren't people, they are animals" further unleashing rabid fascists to not hold back when going after immigrants! Aaron M. Schlossberg from NY went on a racist rant against immigrants foaming at the mouth, telling some Latina workers to "speak English" and claiming he would call ICE on them!

WILL WE ACCEPT IT? OR, WILL WE UNITE – COMING FROM MANY DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS AND POINTS OF VIEW – TO STOP THIS THROUGH MASSIVE NON-VIOLENT PROTEST THAT DOESN’T STOP UNTIL THIS ILLEGITIMATE, ILLEGAL and IMMORAL FASCIST REGIME IS REMOVED FROM POWER?

We Must NOT accept or normalize, this cruel & brutal future of the Trump/Pence FASCIST Regime! They must be driven from power!

Here are 2 very important events coming up:

Thursday, May 24th 7:00 pm (Haines Hall 220 375 Portola Plaza, UCLA)
Film Screening and Panel -- A Film of a talk by Bob Avakian "The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go! In The Name of Humanity, We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America! A Better World IS Possible"

The screening of this hour-long talk from Bob Avakian will be followed by a panel discussion with:
Andy Zee , spokesperson for Revolution Books, NYC, co-initiator of Refuse Fascism.org
Juan Gomez Quinones, Professor of History, UCLA
and others to be announced.

This talk from Bob Avakian (BA) provides a scientific understanding of the roots of this fascist regime—in the history of the U.S. and the deeper roots in the system of capitalism-imperialism. He does so with passion, humor, humanity, and a deep sense of history. He cuts into the deepest, most agonizing questions, first in the speech and then in wide-ranging Questions and Answers.

If more people watched this talk, it could change today’s political equation. But far too few have seen this talk, or even know about it.
You are needed to be part of changing this.

Stand with our brave Palestinian brothers and sisters on the 70 th
anniversary of Nakba; Reject Trump’s embassy move to Jerusalem!

No matter what our nationality, religion or preferred political future may be, we must take a stand in the name of humanity to denounce the recent murders of dozens unarmed protestors and the maiming of thousands by Israel, acting as a trained attack dog for US and Western imperialism in the Middle East.

We must reject Trump’s provocative and unethical move of the US embassy to Jerusalem, long claimed as the capital of a sovereign Palestinian state, a move grotesquely celebrated by Pence’s Christian fascist evangelical movement, which played a starring role in the embassy inauguration, as a welcome step toward the “end times”.

RefuseFascism.org recently posted this call: The carnage in Palestine
makes the mission of RefuseFascism.org more urgent than ever.
So where is the outrage? No good can come from U.S. intervention in
the Middle East. The drums beating for more war are very loud. And
there is a crying need for there to be a strong counter to this,
representing people in the United States who refuse the cruel and
horrible actions of their government.

Join Refuse Fascism OC contingent this coming Sunday. Spread the word to your friends, congregations, and communities.

Max Blumenthal, Journalist and Author, on Israeli Crimes Against Humanity in Gaza

On May 14, armed soldiers of the State of Israel carried out yet another massacre in the blood-stained history of the Zionist settler state -- the murder of 62 Palestinians in Gaza, shot down from a safe distance by Israeli snipers, and assaulted with chemical weapons that killed at least one person, a baby. This was done with the support and approval of the United States.

Max Blumenthal, the award-winning author of GoliathRepublican Gomorrah, and The 51 Day War -- and the co-director of the new film, "Killing Gaza." joins us to talk about what's happening in Gaza.

For the last seven weeks, the Palestinians in Gaza have been carrying out a courageous “Great March of Return”—going right up to the heavily militarized “border” (in reality, prison barbed wire) and demanding the right of return to the land stolen from Palestinians upon Israel’s establishment and an end to the life-crushing blockade. They have been ruthlessly murdered and seriously injured by the Israeli military—one of the most deadly high-tech armies in the world, thanks to billions in American aid—committing what one Amnesty International official said were “willful killings constituting war crimes.”

This week's show:

The Far Away Brothers:Two Young Migrants from El Salvador and Their Struggle to Survive

At a time when the fascist Trump/Pence regime has launched a campaign of genocidal ethnic cleansing against immigrants, marked recently by Attorney General Jeff Sessions' vicious threats against refugee children and families, we'll hear an interview with Journalist Lauren Markham, author of The Far Away Brothers.

Her book has been called an "urgent chronicle of contemporary immigration." It's the story of  twin brothers growing up in El Salvador in the wake of the civil war, being forced to flee to the US as unaccompanied minors, and struggling to find a new life and a way to support their families back home.

The story of one family in The Far Away Brothers is the story of millions of refugees forced from their homes around the world. It's a story that people must be aware of, that demands not only attention, but action in the face of current and threatened crimes against humanity.
