This Week:   Edward Tabash, board chair of the Center for Inquiry, on the Extreme Danger for Humanity of Putting Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court Edward Tabash recently wrote of the danger represented by the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh (left) to the US Supreme Court, and the need for people to stand up and oppose it. He focuses on Kavanaugh's repeated efforts to allow government to officially promote religion, and end the separation of Church and State. Edward Tabash is a Constitutional Lawyer in Los Angeles and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Center for Inquiry. He has filed amicus briefs arguing for the preservation of the separation of church and state with the United States Supreme Court and the California Supreme Court. Author Leni Zumas, Red Clocks, a Novel Set in an America Where Abortion is Illegal Leni Zumas joins us to talk about her novel, Red Clocks. Set in a dystopian alternative reality where abortion, in-vitro fertilization and other reproductive rights have been abolished. It is a reality that is a few short steps away from the present. It follows the lives of five women in a small Oregon town, examining what it means to be a woman in a world that seeks to constrict and control women's lives based on their biology. This Week: Dahr Jamail, Global Temperatures Increases Could Double as the World Burns We'll speak with Dahr Jamail on his latest writings on climate change, or anthropogenic climate disruption (ACD). He's written about the out of control rise in temperatures, and the many impacts, from super storms to failing crops to the threatened extinctions of key species. Dahr Jamail is a long-time investigative reporter, known for years of unembedded reporting from Iraq and the Middle East. He is a Truthout staff reporter, and writes the Climate Disruption Dispatches series. Kathryn Joyce, Christian Fascists and the Real Life Handmaid's Tale We'll hear an interview I did with Kathryn Joyce, author of Quiverfull: Inside the Christian Patriarchy Movement, a book which is being reprinted because its message has become even more urgent. This is the Christian fundamentalist movement at its most extreme end, with a war against feminism as a key part of maintaining the fabric of the theocratic society they want to bring into being in the US -- and actually are now putting into place. It is a movement built on the absolute, total submission of women to domination by men and their god.  Recommended: Four Points on the Past Week: Fascist Moves, Talk of “Treason,” and the Real Interests of Humanity Trump’s summit with Putin, especially coming right after his nomination of a Fascist to the Supreme Court and his bullying at the NATO conference, has administered a shock to the established political order.  How should those who oppose the outrages of the present system—all of which have intensified under Trump—understand this?  And what must be done by revolutionaries, in this situation, to move things forward?
