I go on to provide links to some of BA's most recent pieces along with a couple of other recent articles and the Donate page. I got an immediate response from a couple of academics who both said they were making contributions. Neither of whom read revcom.us as thoroughly as I would like, but one included an invitation to get together to talk more. The more I have thought about this, the more people come to mind that I can reach out to – activists, academics, family members. There is a long list and I am looking forward to reaching out to all of them – including seeing if some will become regular sustainers. I hope to learn a lot in the process. While I have always loved Revolution and looked to it for leadership, I feel like the website has made a real leap in the last several months, both in terms of content and format. I think "What You Need to Know and Engage This Week About the World and Revolution" is one of the great new developments at the website. There is so much going on in the world and so much content at the website, it is very helpful to be able to start off by reading this commentary. White Supremacist lynch-mobism is on the loose and being given a green light. The fascist punk Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted for the murder of two heroes protesting for Black lives.  Now we await the verdict of the modern-day lynching of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery. There can be no passivity and silence in the face of this. A line has been drawn.  Which side are you on? In February 2020, Arbery was jogging through a neighborhood in Glynn County, Georgia, when he was pursued, shot, and killed by three white men. The trial of the three lynchers—father and son Gregory and Travis McMichael and William Bryan—has been underway in Brunswick. They're claiming self-defense when they were the ones who stalked and then murdered unarmed Arbery. Whatever the verdict, this lynching must be opposed. We have to get Organized NOW for a real revolution to overthrow this system that has white supremacy built into it. No more open season on Black people. No more fascist terror. Bob Avakian, the revolutionary leader and author of the new communism, has said: Instead of fighting and killing each other, what people need to be doing now is uniting to defend each other—opposing all unjust violence, not launching attacks on anyone but at the same time not allowing the police or “civilian” fascist thugs to wantonly brutalize and murder people. It needs to be brought down—overthrown—at the soonest possible time. Everyone who cares about justice, about Black lives, about a decent future for humanity needs to get with the Revcoms and get busy preparing for this revolution now. The Revcoms hold a banner reading “Organize now for real revolution” outside the courthouse in Kenosha, Wisconsin    @BGOnTheScene Anthony Huber and Joseph “Jojo” Rosenbaum, the men who Kyle Rittenhouse shot dead in the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, are HEROES and every decent person should recognize them as such. At a time when all too many are absorbed in selfishness and selfies, in snarking and tearing others down, these men gave their lives in the fight against police terror and white supremacist violence. Their lives, including their sacrifice, truly counted for something. Kyle Rittenhouse is a cowardly, sniveling, fascist punk. For the slaughter he carried out, he is a hero to fascists and white supremacists everywhere. These fanatical fascists have already been invading every sphere of public life, attempting to terrorize people who don’t go along with them. Like Rittenhouse, they are armed to the teeth. Like Rittenhouse, they are championed by Trump and backed by the fascist GOP at all levels of government. These fascists think they could just carry out a one-sided slaughter of Black people and other people of color, “illegal immigrants,” “uppity women” and those who don’t conform to “traditional” sexual and gender relations and “norms.” This verdict will only make them more aggressive and deadly. Passivity and silence in the face of this will only fuel the momentum towards fascism and even more monstrous horrors. A line has been drawn. Everyone must pick a side.   As Bob Avakian, the revolutionary leader and the author of the new communism, has said: Instead of fighting and killing each other, what people need to be doing now is uniting to defend each other—opposing all unjust violence, not launching attacks on anyone but at the same time not allowing the police or “civilian” fascist thugs to wantonly brutalize and murder people. And people need to do this as part of building up the forces for revolution. Instead of snarking and sniping at each other, and being divided by “identities,” people should be working to unite everyone, from every part of society, who can be united in the fight against oppression and injustice, with the goal of putting an end to this system that is the source of this oppression and injustice. What You Need to Know and Engage This Week About the World and Revolution November 8, 2021 “For revolting barbarity and shameless hypocrisy, America reigns without a rival.”   True and bitter words spoken by Frederick Douglass nearly 170 years ago. And more true, more bitter today.   From Glasgow, where the inadequate and soon-to-be broken promises and shameless lies from presidents and secretaries of the “great powers” desperately try to cover over the increasingly undeniable reality of a future of hundreds of millions and perhaps billions of desperate refugees, fleeing certain death brought on by environmental destruction… to those border cities of the U.S. and Mexico where the outlines of that future are on display today—the truth of Frederick Douglass’s words rings out. From the courtrooms in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Glynn County, Georgia, where the new wave of white supremacist vigilante killers stand trial and Ku Klux Klan ghosts haunt the courtrooms… to Wounded Knee, South Dakota, where the memories of the slaughter of nearly 300 Native Americans by the U.S. Army cannot be—and must never be—put to rest (see here, here, and here)… the truth of Douglass’s words ring out.   But what to do in the face of that reality? How to understand the source of the problem AND the solution?   For the past few weeks we have been highlighting an important series of new articles by the revolutionary leader and author of the new communism, Bob Avakian, BA. These articles get into the fundamental causes of these and other excruciating problems as well as the real solutions, and go up against all manner of false—seemingly easier—paths being taken by many who do dream of a better world.   This week Bob Avakian analyzes one of the most influential of those theories among the oppressed—the doctrine of the Nation of Islam, led by Louis Farrakhan. In “THE NATION OF ISLAM: NOT A FORCE FOR—A FORCE AGAINST—EMANCIPATION…We Need a Real Revolution,” BA gets into the doctrine of the Nation of Islam (or NOI) and how that “doctrine and program actually contribute to maintaining white supremacy and other horrific oppression, including male supremacy and the patriarchal oppression of women, all of which is built into the system of capitalism-imperialism that we are now forced to live under.”   When people take up one or another false path it is our responsibility to struggle with them, and to come with substance and sharpness when we do. That means taking them to the material foundations of the world, insisting on reality and a reality-based understanding of what it will take to really transform it. This article exemplifies that. So it is important to get into it, discuss it with people, and spread it to those who are desperately seeking a way out and who even more desperately need a real, scientifically grounded, solution: revolution, and the new communism brought forward by Bob Avakian.
