This Week:
Richard Falk on Israel as an Apartheid State -- and How He Was Attacked for Saying It

In March, a report co-authored by Richard Falk, along with Virginia Tilley, a political scientist at the University of Southern Illinois, was released by the UN Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (ESCWA). It examined whether Israel's forms of control exercised over the Palestinian people amounted to the international crime of apartheid. It found that Israeli rule was designed to dominate and oppress Palestinians in order to preserve Israel as a Jewish state. The report was denounced by Israeli officials and US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley. The UN secretary-general, Antonio Gutteres, demanded that it be removed from UN websites. Richard Falk endured personal attacks, and two of his speaking engagements in the UK were cancelled.
We'll talk about the report, Richard Falk's experiences, and the threat to academic freedom and free expression posed by Israel and its Zionist supporters. Richard Falk is an international law and international relations scholar and former United Nations Special Rapporteur on "the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967."

Sunsara Taylor on the Battle for Berkeley: Why it's Right, and Righteous, to Drive Fascists Off Campus, Out of Berkeley... and Out of Power!

Fascists are targeting Berkeley! A series of "intellectual" hitmen for the Trump/Pence regime-Ann Coulter, Milo Yiannopoulos, David Horowitz-have zeroed in on UC Berkeley. Twice in April, hundreds of ready-to-brawl "alt right" white supremacists, neo-Nazis, bikers and militia descended on downtown Berkeley.

Sunsara Taylor, writer for revcom.us/ Revolution, and co-initiator ofRefuseFascism.org, will join us to talk about why the fascists must be driven out and why this is not a question of free speech. And she'll talk about the challenge she has issued to "Robert Reich, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders-or anyone else who wants to join them in defending the 'right' of these fascists to spew their bile and fight for their genocidal program."

Mohammad Sabaaneh,

He is currently on tour in the US, taking about his book, White and Black, political Cartoons from Palestine. The collection has been called, "An eloquent work on the ravages of settler colonialism.
