THIS WEEK:

Dr. LeRoy Carhart and the Battle to Provide Abortion Services in America

Dr. LeRoy Carhart is one of the very few courageous doctors to provide late abortions. He has persevered in the face of legal obstacles and anti-woman terror, including the murder of his friend and colleague Dr. George Tiller. Recently, his clinic in Maryland was abruptly closed by the landlord, who announced it had been bought by anti-woman fascists.

Dr. Carhart is waging a battle to defend and protect the right of all women to have access to abortion.
Sam Menefee-Libey on Dramatic Developments in the Inauguration Day - J20 - Protest Trial.

We'll get an update from Attorney Sam Menefee-Libey from the Dead City Legal Posse on the first trial of the J20 defendants, part of the nearly 200 protesters who have decades in prison for righteously protesting the inauguration of the fascist Trump. The latest developments include the prosecution introducing a video furnished by an associate of the fascist James O’Keefe, who became known for publishing doctored videos.
Bob Avakian, The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go! In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America. A Better World IS Possible.

In the film of a new speech, Bob Avakian, Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, addresses the most urgent question of the day: how to understand, and what to do about, the threat to humanity itself posed by the Trump/Pence regime.

We'll hear an excerpt in which he responds to the question, How is it possible to maintain a movement of that scale for a long period of time?

The entire talk is available here.

Next screening in LA:
Tuesday, December 5 @  5 PM

SPEAK OUT! Against Sexual Assault & Degradation of Women, sponsored by Refuse Fascism LA

Monday, December 4 at 12 PM - 3 PM
At the UCLA Bruin Bear

It is extremely important and positive that many, many women are raising their voices, breaking the silence, and voicing their anger against the rampant culture of sexual harassment and assault -- especially against men in positions of power.

This must be united with and unleashed even further, including that this outrage must increasingly be brought into and help carry forward the movement to drive out the most powerful misogynists in the world -- Donald Trump & Mike Pence and the enslaving program for women they are rapidly implementing as a cornerstone of their all-around fascism.

Students have played a major role in almost every movement for social and political change and this is needed now more than ever.  A fascist regime holds the reins of power in the U.S. And they have communicated by word and deed that they are determined to cohere America under the banner of open white supremacy, patriarchy, and American chauvinism.  Right now fascist intellectual hitmen (Milo Yiannopoulos, Ann Coulter, Steve Bannon, Mike Cernovich, Richard Spencer, and more) have descended on the campus in the service of the Trump/Pence Regime.

YOU’RE NEEDED: Think about what you felt the day you found out Trump was elected.  Now ACT on that feeling and organize others to PROTEST and NOT STOP UNTIL they are Driven from Power!

UPDATE 11/22: Trump/Pence Must Go protesters engage in non violent civil disobedience on LA 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles

The 5 RefuseFascism.org volunteers who blocked the 101 freeway in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday morning have been released!
Thank you to all the people from throughout the country and beyond who called the LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center to demand the charges be dropped and they be set free.  Late in the day on Wednesday, the City Attorney decided not to file charges against any of the volunteers…at least for now (the City Attorney has 1 year to decide)… and the protesters walked out of LA Metropolitan Court and were greeted by RefuseFascism.org activists who’d been at court demanding their release.
It’s very important people from around the country called the authorities to demand their release.  The LAPD had kept the freeway protesters in jail overnight rather than release them on their own recognizance explicitly as ‘preventive detention.”  While they were incarcerated, a number of police told the protesters they weren’t going to be set free because they may carry out another non-violent civil disobedience action and as punishment for carrying out this righteous act.  The police also taunted the protesters from the moment they were arrested, referring especially to November 4 – the RefuseFascism.org call that began the movement “The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go.” Tuesday mornings freeway stoppage came in the wake of November 4, when 4000 people in 24 cities hit the streets demanding “This Nightmare Must End: The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!”
This was truly a spectacular action:  2.75+ million people have viewed Facebook live coverage:

This week on The Michael Slate Show: Net Neutrality; Slave Rebellion Re-enactment; Trump/Pence Must Go!
Corynne McSherry of Electronic Frontier Foundation on the Threat to Net Neutrality
Corynne McSherry, the Legal Director of Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), joins us to talk about the Trump administration's threat to net neutrality. As she recently explained on the EFF website, the proposed rule changes on the internet by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), "invites a future where only the largest Internet, cable, and telephone companies survive, while every start-up, small business, and new innovator is crowded out—and the voices of nonprofits and ordinary individuals are suppressed."
Dread Scott on the Slave Rebellion Reenactment

Dread Scott joins us to talk about the Slave Rebellion Reenactment. It is "a community-based performance that will restage and reinterpret Louisiana’s Revolt of 1811. This was the largest rebellion of enslaved people in North American history and took place outside of New Orleans."

Dread Scott makes revolutionary art to propel history forward. In 1989, the entire US Senate denounced and outlawed his artwork and President Bush declared it “disgraceful” because of its use of the American flag.
Courageous Refuse Fascism Protesters Block 101 Freeway During Rush Hour - AGAIN!

With courage and conviction, 5 RefuseFascism.org volunteers blocked the 101 freeway in downtown Los Angeles Tuesdaymorning. Their 60 foot banner read TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! Rush hour freeway traffic was snarled and brought to a stop as the protesters broke through the normalization of fascism in the U.S. with this bold action.

We'll speak with two of the courageous freeway protesters..

November 4 It Begins
This Nightmare Must End:
The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!

We stand on the edge of a deadly precipice. We are ruled by a bona fide fascist who is moving fast and hard to consolidate his regime. Should he succeed this will mean unprecedented suffering of many millions around the world.

On Nov 4th in over 20 cities across the country, protests demanding the ouster of the Trump/Pence Regime are planned.  RefuseFascism.org is launching a movement of growing mass non-violent political protests that will not stop until the demand is met:  The Nightmare Must End: The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go! (See the ad at left, which was printed in the New York Times on November 1.)

We'll hear from Andy Zee of RefuseFascism.org on the grave danger facing humanity, what is planned for November 4, and what's going on during the days and nights afterward.

We'll also talk with Perry Hoberman, from Refuse Fascism LA, about what's happening in Los Angeles on November 4 and beyond.

Lillian Hellman's Watch on the Rhine

We'll also have a conversation with Susan Loewenberg, producer of an LA Theatre Works production of a play by Lillian Hellman, Watch on the Rhine, scheduled to open in 2018. The story begins in 1940. A German-born engineer and his American wife visit family in Washington, DC. They have been deeply involved in anti-Fascist activities in Spain and Germany. When something happens that imperils The Resistance, the family unflinchingly chooses to take great risks, and make great sacrifices for the fight against fascism, putting aside any consideration of "my life," "my career."

Watch on the Rhine is both a lesson and a challenge to all living today.

THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! In The Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America: A Better World IS Possible - A Talk by Bob Avakian

The film of Bob Avakian’s new speech addresses the most urgent question of the day: how to understand, and what to do about, the threat to humanity itself posed by the Trump/Pence regime. This talk—from the most radical revolutionary on the planet—makes the case for massive, sustained nonviolent outpourings to begin on November 4. It traces the roots of the regime—the deeper and more immediate causes of its rise to power. This hour-long speech is full of substance, and heart.
