This week:

Josh Willis, NASA JPL on #ClimateCrisis, Oceans Melting Greenland; Andy Zee, When Do YOU Say Enough? Plus Nora Benavidez, Press Freedom Week in LA

Josh Willis, Lead Scientist for NASA's OMG (Oceans Melting Greenland) on the Rapid Melting of Glaciers and the Consequences

Climate change continues to accelerate, hitting the planet harder and harder. On August 2, a glacier in Greenland lost over 11,000,000,000 tons of ice in a single day. Josh Willis has spent the past weeks in the Arctic, investigating how the Greenland Ice Sheet is being attacked by record warm temperatures, and from below by warming sea water. Water released from the glacier melts on Greenland alone will raise sea levels by several meters, swamping coastal cities around the world. Josh will join us to talk about the OMG project, and what they are finding.

Andy Zee on When do YOU say enough? A Town Hall: A Time to Act

Nora Benavides on LA Press Freedom Week

Nora Benavides is director of US free expression programs at PEN America. She'll join us to talk about LA Press  Freedom Week. At a time when assaults on journalists and threats to press freedom are on the rise in the United States, PEN America will participate in the first-ever LA Press Freedom Week, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the Los Angeles Times from September 16-19. LA Press Freedom Week will focus on convening journalists, media advocates, and free expression stakeholders for conversations about the importance of press freedom and the First Amendment.
