Something radically different stepped out on May 1 in the U.S. At a time when the rulers of the U.S. and Europe are trying to whip people into a dangerous chauvinist frenzy in response to the unjust Russian invasion of Ukraine… and when far too many people among the progressive middle strata are being taken in and going along with this, while too many others are turning away from this and putting their heads deeper in the sand—a small but determined force hit the streets in Los Angeles and New York, mobilizing people around these slogans: NO US/NATO WAR WITH RUSSIA! NO WORLD WAR 3! IT’S THIS SYSTEM, NOT HUMANITY, THAT NEEDS TO BECOME EXTINCT! WE DON’T ACCEPT THEIR FUTURE IT’S TIME TO GET ORGANIZED FOR A REAL REVOLUTION |
The Revolution Clubs marched through the streets of Los Angeles and New York, joined by others, under those banners, projecting an organized, militant and conscious force determined to sound the alarm and mobilize people against a possible World War 3. For the first time, a force was out around slogans that laid bare the real stakes… and put forward the real interests of humanity, getting this outmoded and life-destroying system off humanity’s back. These marches carried with them the hope of people who DO NOT ACCEPT this future, who reject the insanity of a system that has pushed the whole planet to the brink of incredible horrors. |
Comrades in Los Angeles, joined by Revolution Club members from the Midwest and Oakland-San Francisco-Berkeley spent the week prior to the actions going out to people in neighborhoods of the oppressed, the trains, the high schools and colleges, a book fair and all over with this message. And in the middle of all this, they made the time in Los Angeles to mark the 30th anniversary of the historic rebellion against police brutality and white supremacy with a march through the area where it started. Meanwhile, in New York, the Revolution Club found a way to call out the NY pig Mayor Eric Adams as the Black Giuliani right in his face at a mass event where his return to the repressive measures of the Giuliani days were being promoted, while wearing the green bandana promoting abortion rights wherever they went. |
As one important dimension of this May 1, revolutionary communist forces in a number of countries brought this same message into May 1st protests—in Berlin, Germany; Paris, France; five cities in Colombia; Stockholm, Sweden—(go here for leaflets that were distributed in different countries, here for sights from Los Angeles and New York, and here for May Day around the world). Comrades from Iran and Afghanistan contributed to and joined these efforts. In all of these places, bold banners featured these same slogans and pointed to the need for revolution speaking to the conditions in their part of the world linked to what humanity is facing in all parts of the planet. There is great importance at this moment to strengthening revolutionary communist forces from many different countries being able to act in unity to impact society—against the dangers of these war moves, and for revolution to end the system that must now become extinct. |
Today, we emphasize posting the sights and sounds of this May 1, along with analysis of the rapidly developing danger in Ukraine. For even as people were taking the streets, the U.S. made another move to escalate the war, as the powerful Democrat Nancy Pelosi led a delegation to Ukraine itself and called for victory against Russia. |
This coming week marks the 100th episode of The RNL—Revolution, Nothing Less!—Show on YouTube. If we are to build off the determined but still too small forces that came out on May 1, spreading the reach of this show is one very critical stepping stone. We ask our readers to take these next few days to figure out how to really reach back and reach out to many, many others to watch episode 100, together if possible, and start a positive chain reaction. |

This coming week will also be crucial to building the important week of struggle beginning on May 8 called for by Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights. Go to RiseUp4AbortionRights.org to find out more as things develop. Once again, a determined force came out on May 1st. Their marching, their speeches, their efforts in the buildup to reach and struggle with masses of people, and their solidarity showed the potential. They are up against big obstacles. But those who have stepped forward now—armed most of all with the revolutionary science of the new communism brought forward by Bob Avakian and a bone-deep dedication to emancipating humanity—represents a key to unlocking the potential in this explosive political situation… if we are able to carry forward from here. They are the hope for humanity… in a situation where the stakes could not be higher. That is the challenge before us. Those who marched on May 1 dared to accept this. WILL YOU? |

Unbelievable as it may seem, in the 21st century there are still people—including people in positions of power and authority—who are determined to force women to bear children, regardless of the situation, the feelings, and the better judgment of those women themselves. That is a way of enslaving women to the dictates of an oppressive male supremacist, patriarchal system; and that is what the cruel fanatics who are determined to deny women the right to abortion are really all about. — Bob Avakian |
